Recycling your old smoke detectors

Smoke detectors (which don’t have radioactive materials inside them) can be recycled.

Ecotech Services, a Christchurch technology sales and service company specialises in all aspects of environmentally powered items.

The privately-owned company accepts non-radioactive smoke detectors at a cost of $2 each, with a minimum fee of $20 (prices include GST, and are accurate at the time of writing). Please check current recycling prices with Ecotech Services.

Ecotech puts all parts of the smoke sensor into different recycling channels.
